We are aware that from 27 July the Government is allowing the phased reopening of indoor gyms and leisure centres provided that COVID-19 Secure guidelines are followed.
The safety and well-being of everyone at CCC – participants, volunteers, teachers – has always been and will continue to be our priority and whilst we would dearly love to start to reopen – even in a very limited form – we do not believe that this is possible at this time. We will continue to consult with similar organisations and follow scientific, medical and Government advice and we will regularly review the situation and take appropriate action.
It is worth remembering that we have no outdoor space and that St George’s is not an easy building to keep ventilated, clean and ensure social distancing. In order to run any activities all equipment would need to be cleaned and sanitised after each use. Equipment that can’t be wiped down - including silks, ropes, taped hoops and trapeze - would need to be quarantined for a few days between users. Masks would be essential and social distancing would curtail spotting, partner work and hands-on support. We would find it impossible to ensure social distancing at all times and to check every participant on entry for any symptoms or to check temperatures. Much as we’d like to run some activities we simply cannot do so safely.
Rest assured that although CCC may be temporarily closed, as an organisation we remain active! We will continue to run online classes weekly, led by our amazing volunteers.
We are monitoring the situation and will review this policy in September. While we don't expect the state of things will change that quickly, we are committed to keeping the community updated.
Cambridge Community Circus Management Committee
Cambridge Community Circus is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers that teaches a variety of circus arts in Cambridge, UK. We provide taught sessions in aerial disciplines including trapeze, silks, hoop, corde lisse, straps and cloud. You can also come along and learn ground-based skills including ball, club and ring juggling, poi, hula hoop, diabolo and unicycling!
There's plenty of bike racks around the church as well as a small car park. We are situated on a quiet residential street with non-ticketed parking, so we ask all visitors to CamCircus to be respectful to the residents when arriving and leaving the site.
